I Know a Thing is Viviane’s second CD recording as a leader, and features a fine cast of contemporary jazz musicians. Included are special guest Juno Award winner Hugh Fraser on trombone, bassist Jim Vivian, Owen Howard on drums and Dave Restivo on piano. There is an atmosphere of excitement that cultivate the nine tracks that comprise I Know a Thing. The CD features original vocal jazz compositions that sit comfortably in the mainstream of vocal jazz. The musicianship of Viviane and the band is jazz at it’s finest with swing and funk grooves moving seamlessly over differenttime signatures. Noteworthy performances include stellar interplay between Viviane Cardinal and the band on I Know a Thing, Hugh Fraser’s lush trombone and Jim Vivian’s bass on Friend and Dave Restivo’s introspective intro for Of God and Chocolate. Owen Howard creates an amazing rhythmic weaving on Kicks.
